Paris Experience Group unveils its strategy for sustainable tourism

Paris, 19 May 2022. At a time when Parisian tourism is experiencing a sustained recovery after two years of severe turbulence, Paris Experience Group, a historic player in the French tourism industry, is unveiling an ambitious action plan to promote sustainable and inclusive tourism, resolutely committed to serving the local economy.

The "Destination France" plan, presented by the government in November 2021, has set the objective of making France the leading sustainable tourist destination by 2030. In this major project, Paris Experience Group intends to play its part in supporting the transformation of the tourism sector currently underway.

"In the wake of the health crisis, Paris Experience Group wishes to promote the development of sustainable, inventive and immersive tourism. We must better reconcile the expectations of visitors with the demands of local residents, and support the necessary ecological transition of our industry," says Karl Gremillet, President of Paris Experience Group.

In order to support the tourism recovery and learn from a health crisis that has transformed our way of travelling, the Paris Experience Group's action plan is inspired by the guidelines of the 2021 Sustainable Tourism Conference and is based on several axes:

- The greening of its activities and means of transport,

- The development of local tourism

- Enhancing its service offer

Through the modernisation of its fleet of cruise ships and the introduction of electric and hybrid buses and minibuses, the Paris Experience Group wishes to make soft and active mobility more widespread.

As a result, the group will significantly reduce its carbon footprint over the period 2019-2024:

- In Paris and the Ile-de-France region, the entire fleet of buses and minibuses will be decarbonised

- On the Seine, from 2023, the flagship of its fleet of nine boats, "Le Paris", will be equipped with electric motors. By 2025, the Group will have transformed its entire fleet.

By investing in small group tours by bike, scooter and on foot, which will account for 30% of business by the end of 2022, the Paris Experience Group also wants to promote a human-sized, immersive and original form of tourism, which allows visitors to get off the beaten track of traditional tourist hubs, and which gives pride of place to local craftsmen.

As the recovery of the sector observed during the first half of 2022 promises a revival of activity approaching pre-crisis levels, Paris Experience Group is also proud to expand its range of services, with the launch of "Sorty", the digital platform for Parisians to discover Paris in a different way (museums, galleries, experiences, tea-time, backstage, unusual places, etc.), as well as the launch of "Maxim's on the Seine", a gastronomic dinner cruise with a Belle Époque musical cabaret background.

Finally, Paris Experience Group wishes to launch an ambitious inclusive recruitment plan to address the high level of recruitment pressure currently experienced by professionals, while 250,000 positions are currently vacant in the hotel and restaurant sector.
